445 MILLION YEARS
445 Million Years acts as a testament to the resilience of horseshoe crabs, longtime survivors of climatic changes on this planet. The book incorporates the Turkish Map Fold which echoes the anatomy of the horseshoe crab, suggesting animacy in its form. When fully opened, the book rests on the table like an animate creature. From above, you see prints of the moon – referencing the relationship that horseshoe crabs have to moon cycles. The book is dedicated to “all those surviving the Anthropocene” terminology created by scientists in 2000 to suggest a new geologic era defined by changing climate due to human industry.
